Nature has always been his base of work as he is brought-up in the surrounding of flora which lay embossed in this mind-set projecting his psyche on canvass. Manoj developed his own distinctive style by unifying his interests in expressing emotional and psychological responses to the world through mighty colours and expressions (often using symbolic images). This reflects his post-impressionistic bent of mind. He uses colours derived from natural resources like earth colour, cow dung, plant sap, charcoal, soil and leaves etc similar to Indian folk artists who use in their own domain. With these natural colours Manoj courageously goes against the global trend and depicts genuine "Indianness" within the parameters of modernity. Taking cue from Indian Folk art, he depicts fragmented modern aesthetic style, often mixing geometric and non-geometric shapes.
